Since beginning the Eco Church group at St Giles in late 2021, we have been working towards the awards on the A Rocha Eco Church scheme. We have introduced many measures at St Giles for the five areas of Church Life.
These are: * Worship and teaching, * Management of church buildings, * Management of church land, * Community and global engagement * Lifestyle. St Giles was awarded the Bronze Award on 28th March 2022 and has now been awarded the Silver Award ecochurch.arocha.org.uk/ |
One measure that we have taken is to apply to be a Fairtrade Church. For many years we have been using Fairtrade items as part of the refreshments served at St Giles and we have celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight.
We achieved the award as a Fairtrade Church in January 2023.

In this, our 3rd year of churchyard conservation work, we are seeing the fruits of our labours. We are attracting more biodiversity with the areas of long grass and wildflowers. The pathway through the grass leads under the trees is an attractive addition and provides welcome shade and an invitation to explore
